WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE
I am a fully qualified, senior BACP accredited psychotherapist and supervisor, trained in individual psychotherapy, trauma therapy, bereavement counselling and CBT. I have worked with clients for over 16 years: in the NHS, in Higher Education and in private practice.
As a manager I headed up a psychotherapeutic service for adults, children and young people in Brighton, was Head of Counselling and Mental Health for a large University and managed a national Mediation project for the Ministry of Education in Luxembourg.
I also work as a consultant and trainer, nationally and internationally. I have been awarded senior accredited status by the BACP and have published for the BACP and others.
HOW I WORK
If you are visiting this page because you feel stuck, down, anxious or distressed, you are not alone. There is no possibility of creating a life that doesn’t have change, loss and heartbreak in it. The reality is that in our shared human experience we all encounter times of distress. Sometimes friends and family can offer support in difficult times and sometimes we may nevertheless choose to look at underlying patterns with a qualified therapist. It does not need to be an either-or-decision; you can choose both.
We work together to identify what is needed to bring movement into a seemingly stuck situation and to find a way of integrating new behaviours into a more conscious and choiceful way of being. I believe that it is by connecting with our own potential and our inner resources that we heal, grow and expand.
Together, we explore current patterns and how they impact on your life and your relationships. Once you have become more fully aware of them and understand how you may actively maintain them, you can start to experiment with change. In the safety of the therapeutic relationship you may be willing to take the risk to express yourself more fully and feel yourself expand. From that place of awareness you can experiment with different behaviour. At that point you may see real change in your relationships and your environment and I will support you in finding a way to integrate this new way of being into your life.
I have witnessed many times what a profound difference this way of working can make to peoples' lives. That is why I am deeply passionate about my work.
WHAT I OFFER
I work in private practice in Brighton and Lewes and see clients on a short- and long-term basis, depending on their need. I work with complex long standing issues as well as situations that have just arisen. In addition to the general 4 year psychotherapy training, I also did substantial training in CBT, trauma therapy, bereavement counselling and somatic interventions. I therefore have specialist knowledge and training in several different approaches, which enables me to use the approach that best suits the issues you bring, rather than asking you to fit the approach.
My training and experience as a Psychotherapist have allowed me to work with clients who come with a wide range of issues, such as:
- a broken heart
- bereavement and loss
- trauma that is trapped in the nervous system
- relationship difficulties
- survival of domestic violence
- low self-esteem
- work and career related issues
- women going through the menopause just to name a few.
Whatever you come with, my aim is to work together to transform fixed patterns, so that you can live a fuller and more satisfying life.
